BACKGROUND

Established in 1963, Compakomatic has long been recognized as a manufacturer of high quality precision manufactured equipment for use with the fusion (GMAW) welding process. In the early days, Compakomatic built its reputation around solving problems for high production and extremely demanding applications by designing and manufacturing compact automatic MIG (GMAW) welding components for use in the automotive market. The "Compact" Compakomatic automatic components allowed tooling designers and engineers to utilize the MIG welding process in area that previously were not accessible because of the bulky physical size of the equipment that was available at that time. The name Compakomatic was originally chosen to represent this new style of "compact automatic" equipment.

PROVIDING SOLUTIONS

In the late 60's and early 70's Compakomatic introduced a variety of standard line motion devices such as the Linear Seamer and the original Rotowelder designed to travel the welding gun in various linear and circular patterns respectively. This was the first time standard products were specifically designed to assist large machine builders to automate their fusion welding applications. In those pre-robotic days Compakomatic motion units were providing production rates that still can't be matched, dollar for dollar, any other way.

INCREASING EVERYONE'S PRODUCTIVITY

It was apparent that if the Compakomatic components could increase productivity on extremely complex applications requiring large, custom built fixtures, the same principles could be applied to smaller high volume applications. The only problem was that many such jobs could not justify the design and construction of a custom built fixture which would enable the end user to utilize the Compakomatic equipment.

To solve this problem in, 1970, Compakomatic introduced, the first of is series of standard line work cell machines that could be equipped with interchangeable tool sets much the same way a basic punch press was equipped with various interchangeable die sets. This approach, which was quite novel for its time, has now become the standard for the work cell approach popularized by welding robots in the 80's. Over the following years, Compakomatic expanded its line of work cell type machines to include welding lathes, turn tables, and linear welders, all of which incorporate the same high quality components that we still produce for the high production machine integrators.

COMPAKOMATIC TODAY

Compakomatic offers a wide variety of motion units, pneumatic devices, adjusters, and accessories designed to assist the custom integrator or end user to easily automate what is now known as fixed automation fusion welding applications. We also offer these same components incorporated into a line of standard machines which can easily be equipped with your own tooling for your specific application.

So, whether you require only components at one end of the scale or a machine at the other end of the scale, Compakomatic can easily assist you in finding a solution for your automatic welding application. Compakomatic can also assist you with the installation of your preferred power source, wirefeeder and weld control as well as work with your preferred source for tooling.
